I had seen some review site give this small level pack a really high review (I wish I could provide a link for you, but I can't remember for the life of me who gave this level such high kudos). Its a good few levels, but nothing incredibly special, and I'm sort of at a loss as to why it got such a high review. As you can see, I'm giving it a 3 overall.

screenshot I want to sort of emphasize that there is nothing wrong, per se, with these levels. In fact, they are all competently designed, and in fact have some really clever parts (I especially liked the room filled with the oak pilings). The level is supposed to be a castle, and in that, it accomplishes its mission fairly well: the problem with the levels lie in the fact that the texturing is drab and utterly brown (a la Quake), that each level only has about 50 monsters in it, and that the level just fails to keep you interested. There is also some sort of bug at the end of the level that prevents you, as far as I can tell, from teleporting to the final area. There is a pretty cool lift, something like one of the lifts in Quake, where you slowly rise upwards and all these monsters teleport into the enclosed, rising space with you. However, once you get to the top: the teleporter doesn't work. I had to clip to the final area, which really wasn't very difficult, even given two mancubuses and two archies: I had a full rocket launcher.

Overall, there isn't anything particularly bad about these levels, but I wouldn't say they are great either. I'm noncommital. Trois.
