"Annihilation" is a single, base style level for Doom 2. It's a nice level with lots of variety of architecture - acid areas, outdoor areas, etc. There are nice features like torches and decorations scattered around, but more detail would have improved some areas.
Right from the start there are some tricky fights; ammo is limited for most of the level, so keep an eye on those shells. There are refreshingly few big badies early on, so you get to fight with the single shotgun for a while which makes a nice change. It's tricky at times but not too hard; there are no real traps, just good only shotgun practice.
Towards the end there is a fight with a cyberdemon, where you have to distract him with other monsters while you grab the keycard. There's another fight like this against a spiderdemon right at the end - lotsa rockets and other ammo too, but they're not needed. The level progression is good throughout, the level is non-linear but it's always clear where to go.
Overall, this is a good level, though I can think of ways it could be better. Worth your time though.
