CHORD1 is a single level for Doom 2. It is a very Doom 2 style level, similar to Monster Condo, with sharp contrasting lighting and a grim atmosphere. The level sticks well to the style
If you start playing this level on UV, it won't be the wallpaper that you'll notice, but the 2 revenants and a beserk pack that make up the first fight :-). At UV this level is one hell of a fight, with limited ammo, tight spaces to fight in, and tough monsters. Don't start this one expecting to play through without dying; I stepped down to HMP, which is still tough but gives you a much better chance of actually surviving some fights first time :-).
The design of the level is clearly used to enhance the fights: it's worth thinking about each one and working out a strategy, because you'll usually need one. I wouldn't be surprised if every room at this level was designed specifically for the fight that happens in it, instead of the other way around as it is for most levels.
This level isn't perfect, maybe some secrets, a little more detail maybe, and one or two not so great fights, but overall this is definitely a level to play. I'm off to do it at UV now...
