screenshot This is an acid base level for Boom, and as you can see it has some very good architecture. There is a lot of detail like pipes, lighting, computer panels, and acid leaks. The outdoor start is well handled; there is a metal fence with the gate just ajar where you just entered. Together with the Knee-Deep sky, industrial theme and detail, this level had a very realistic feel in most areas.

screenshot The gameplay has plenty of bite too; there are lots of traps and surprises to keep you busy. The level is dominated by Doom 2 enemies, and the monster placement is good. There is little margin for error, because you don't get any armour until late in the level, so save often. Several of the fights can be made much easier though if you give them some thought. There are a couple of handy secrets which help too.

My only real complaint about this level is the final area. The penultimate fight with an archville is tough, you have to choose your ground well. The final fight is boring by comparison, with 4 barons to be shotgunned to reach the exit, all of them with a fair amount of space, so provided you don't rush it's a no-brainer. Aside from that, it's an excellent level, so go play it!
