screenshot "Eulogy 8" is a bricks and metal style level for Doom 2. The architecture is good, fairly spacious and bare rooms, with good features like pillars, steps and such to make areas interesting. The level needs Boom, for one underwater area and the general complexity of the level. The outdoor part was rather spartan, but there is a nice fountain, and the area makes a good fight.

The gameplay is interesting; at the start there is an unusual feature, a courtyard in which monsters don't attack you, which lets you save a lot of ammo early on if you realise and take advantage. And ammo can be limited in this level, so be careful. There are lots of groups of monsters, all of one type, used throughout the level; mainly the powerful Doom 2 enemies are used. The fights are usually quite spacious, with chances to get the enemies fighting; but there are also some tough close-up fights too. There are quite a few archvilles too.

The level progression is quite tricky at this level. There are keycards, but they only become available at the end. Mostly there are switches to hit, to raise bridges or reveal more switches, which control your progress; the way forward isn't always obvious, but if you search around you'll find it. There are a couple of secrets to find too.

Overall, a good level, well worth playing if you like this style.
