Levels 1

Review by Colin Phipps

This level started out as the author's first Doom level, made for Doom 1 back in 1997. It was later converted to Doom 2 and released. It's just a straightforward conversion though, no Doom 2 weapons or enemies were added.

The first half of the level is a series of square rooms mostly filled with troopers and sergeants. Don't be too careless though, there are a few cacodemons thrown in. There aren't any traps at the level, keycards come easily, and you get given all the weapons and plenty of armour early on.

The later half of the level is a bit more interesting, with a couple of marble halls with some more sinister lighting, but still no traps and (apart from one baron) no tricky fights. There are several cyberdemons guarding the exit itself, but you can just grab one of the invulnerabilities lying around and push past them.
