MELEE is a single level for Doom 2, in the hellish style I suppose. It was kind of hard to work out the style at first, because the whole level seems to be nearly pitch black - I was forced to cheat to get the lightamp goggles so I could actually see what was going on.
This is a nasty level, with lots of unfair traps. Even with the lights on, the shoot-through walls were a real pain, especially since some had things like sergeants and revenants behind them. Basically, save very often and expect the worst (e.g. if the worst that could happen is a wall opening with 5 chaingunners behind it, it will probably). I gave up at UV after only a few minutes.
The architecture lacks detail in many areas. The author uses lots of no-cross lines which are frustrating when they seem to block the level progression. The texturing varies between monotonous and bizarre.
To top it all, the final area has 5 cyberdemons to blast your way through, and even after that I couldn't find the exit. I'm afraid this is this author's first level, and it shows. Better luck next time.
