Review by Colin Phipps

RUNAWAY is an old, single level for Doom 1. It's in the Knee-Deep style; the level has some nice areas and features like acid channels and computer panels. However the reast of the level was rather basic, with limited texture use and little detail. There were also some basic errors like ceilings over doors.

By todays standards the level is rather easy, but there is plenty to keep the player interested (unlike some levels this old). There are one or two nasty little fights; however there are several soul spheres and mega-armours around and plenty of other health and goodies. The traps often showed up on the map too.

The level progression is not too good either; key doors are seen before they are needed, but you need to find 2 secrets to complete the level (albeit obvious ones marked on the map). Also alas the level is marred by the blind monsters bug caused by the old version of DoomEd used.

Overall this level has a lot of flaws, but it's not a bad Knee-Deepish level for it's age.
