Review by Colin Phipps

"Warcade4" is a base-style level for Doom 2, with a building surrounded by a moat. There is a mixture of styles, the building itself is marble, while the outdoor areas are more the industrial Doom 2 style. The level is small, took about 10 minutes to finish.

The most unusual feature of the level are the doors in the main building. some are released by switches, some are blocked by cage bars, and some only open from one side; completing the level basically consists of working round the level, getting the keycards and opening these doors.

Ammo is very limited, I finished with very little to spare. It forced me to play aggresively at the start, working into the new areas instead of fighting from the doorways. There is opportunity to get monsters fighting each other, and plenty of health. Once the first half of the level is done, provided you are observant you can get the more powerful weapons and clean up pretty quickly.

Hmmm what else to say. We tried playing cooperative - you get more weapons, but the awkward doors didn't suit coop play. Also, in a couple of places there are raised star shapes, made of acid; trouble was they were placed in doorways, making it awkward to fight the next room without taking acid damage.
